What is Motivation? (Explain it by using key elements of motivation)

Motivation is the process that account for an individual’s intensity, direction and persistence of effort toward attaining the goal.

Motivation is not that hard to achieve and initiate. However, successful motivation is not that easy. Whether you want to motivate yourself to achieve something better or you want to motivate someone else.

Here, we can identify intensity, direction, and persistence as three key elements of successful motivation.

Intensity is the first key element that refers to dedication and hard work. This element guides the process successfully. This is significantly dependent on how hard an individual tries to achieve their end goal. During this process, those individuals try to achieve certain goals. Sometimes getting motivated is not just enough. The intensity element is highly dependent on your goals and rewards. If you want something, you should keep your intensity at a higher level.

Hard work doesn’t always guarantee success. Especially in the case of motivation, the direction also has an equally important element of successful motivation.

The equality and direction of your motivation efforts should be a good channel. If you’re motivating yourself, you need to be very clear in your goals and rewards. However, you should also believe in what you are trying to achieve. On the other hand, if you’re trying to motivate someone else you should direct your motivational effort to get the right emotions. So you can make the entire process more effective and well-directed.

The third key element is persistence. However, it will measure a person’s motivation for how long keep with him. The desired result is simply not enough if you’re working hard and in the right direction. So, If you’re not engaging with it for long enough you are not able to achieve your goal. Therefore, persistence is an important element when it comes to successful motivation. The goal will be achieved If the persistence is consistent with the intensity and right direction.

During this process, individuals have to be completely determined and committed to their objectives. Constantly reminding yourself why you set your goal in the first place is a good technique to stay devoted and persistent to your task.
